Ishika Lokuge, committee member of Pahansila General Coordinating Committee, met with several Pahansila scholarship recipients, on December 19, 2010. This is the first meeting we conducted for 2010/2011 period out of three. All the scholarship recipients (and parents/guardians of them) in Western and Southern provinces were invited for the meeting. The meeting was held at the Rankoth Viharaya, Panadura from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our Pahansila administrators Mr. & Mrs. Niroshani and Bandula Wimalasooriya coordinated the meeting.

About 70 guests attended the meeting, including 28 scholarship recipients, their parents/guardians, local supervisors, donors, Pahansila volunteers, and a head of a school - Mr. Sarath Vitharana, the Principal of Peraliya Maha Vidyalaya. It was a very successful meeting. At the meeting we had the opportunity to meet recipients & their guardians in person, resolve any problems they might have encountered, and emphasize the importance of maintaining a good academic and extra-curricular progress to get Pahansila assistance. A head of a school, a supervisor, parents of scholarship recipients and the students got the opportunity to address the meeting.  Pahansila General Coordinating Committee provided tea and snacks as breakfast and lunch for all the attendees. Furthermore, we gave out a small gift with educational supplies to all students and all scholarship recipients and families attended the meeting received reimbursements for bus fares.

Pahansila General Coordinating Committee wishes to thank our volunteers who did a splendid job in organizing the meeting. Also we wish to thank the family members of Mr. Bandula Wimalasooriya for helping us in numerous ways and the chief incumbent monk at Rankoth Viharaya for providing us the hall.
